<itunes:summary>Paul discovered that the ability of God was far greater than his weaknesses and his circumstances. He was in prison but knew that God still could advance the Gospel of Christ through the chains he found himself in. We all have prisons that we find ourselves in due to our circumstances, but like Paul, we must have the right perspective on our circumstances to realize that God is still at work. This encouraging message outlines the importance of proper perspective in three areas of life:

Perspective on our problems

Perspective on our pain

Perspective on our possibilities

Let us ask ourselves what God is teaching us through our circumstances and what has happened to us. Every prison we find ourselves in is an opportunity to learn, grow, change and still be used to accomplish God's purpose.

<itunes:summary>What kind of father does God want you to be? Some say that anyone can be a father; however, the failure rate is higher than any other occupation. Fatherhood is filled with inherent responsibilities and burdens, as it is the most important task on earth. A recent study revealed that fathers spend only and average of twelve minutes per day with their children.

While society looks at the outward accomplishments of a man, God looks at the inner strength.. Being an effective godly father requires that we be effective spiritual leaders in our homes. Leaving this responsibility to others will lead to a lifetime of regrets. In order to develop a godly character, we need to spend time with Jesus, in His Word and on our knees in order to gain godly understanding and wisdom.

The ingredients for a peaceful and godly home can are summed up with:

A surrendered life to God (being a godly servant)

A faithfulness to God

A loyal Spirit to God and leadership.

A selfless love (a child cannot find the love of God without first finding godly love in his father)

A Gentle Sprit

May we have the single-purpose goal in your life to pursue a life of righteousness – seeking to please God in every area and every way.

<itunes:summary>It has often been said that the end of journey is more important than the beginning. The Christian life is not a sprint but rather a marathon. God wants us to be consistent throughout our lives in order to finish in a strong and victorious way.

Today’s scripture highlights the reign of King Asa, initially a man of action who sought to follow God and seek His will. Over time, however, temptations came in the midst of prosperous times. After giving in to temptations and disobeying God's word through His prohpet, King Asa's end was far worse than his beginning.

May we have the desire to finish strong by staying close to God, continuing to humble ourselves before Him, relying completely upon Him and worshiping Him. Using the resources God has placed before us and seeking wise counsel will guarantee a peaceful and fruitful life and a strong finish.

<itunes:summary>The most important call we will ever receive is from God. Many of the calls we receive today stem from our accomplishments and works. God’s call to us, however, is different. His call is not based upon our good works or human accomplishments but upon His grace and deep love for us. No matter what our sinful past contains, He stands ready to forgive us and welcome us into His kingdom, escaping judgment and eternal condemnation.

Calling us to Himself, He desires us to live a life of service, devotion and 100% commitment. Being handpicked from the harvest, we have a job to do, and allowing God to change us from who we were to who He wants us to be will lead to the privilege of sharing our faith with others and sow seeds for God’s harvest. Having this awesome privilege, we must ask ourselves what kind of picture of Jesus are we drawing for others to see? How can I best reflect the Lord in my life? Having the sweet fragrance of our Lord Jesus will have an attraction to others longing to hear the good news of the gospel.

<itunes:summary>Resumes are designed to draw the interest and create a desire to employ you. A resume summarizes who you are and what you have done. Elijah was used greatly by the Lord. He served with dependability and integrity. Throughout his life Elijah was sent from place to place, being used by the Lord to bring hope and faith to all of those he encountered. He was a powerful servant of the Lord. Some of the experiences that Elijah had included seeing the dead raised and showing the power of the Lord when fire consumed the sacrifice atop waterlogged wood.

There was, however, a season of his life where he was afraid and fled. Alone and in despair, he prayed for the Lord to take his life. Even so, the Lord provided nourishment in order for Elijah to travel a bit further to a place where he would have a life-changing encounter with God. Elijah experienced God in a new and different way. Afterwards, God was able to still use a broken vessel to accomplish His purposes in an even greater way.

We can claim these same promises today if we are honest and clean before God. Being confident in the Lord’s ability and willingness to sustain us through our darkest moments, we must focus on God’s promises rather than on our fears and failures, obediently following and depending on Him.

<itunes:summary>Is there anything more frail and fragile than a bruised and wilting reed at the waters edge or a wick whose flame has faultered, displaying only a small glow at its tip.

Many are the afflications of people today. Why does the Bible contain so many accounts of Jesus meeting with people with problems? -- the woman at the well, the lost hope of disciples on the road to Emmaeus shortly after Jesus' crucifiction, the man with the withered hand - all bruised reeds or smoldering wicks. We can imagine the desperate prayer on their lips begging for relief from the never-ending pain.

The world has no room for people such as these. Jesus, however, is committed to doing good, maintaining His love and compassion for all of us. Jesus' healing requires no follow-up visits or second procedures. His spiritual healing is once and for all. Our passage today illustrates how, at a certain time, there was an encounter with God that resulted in a renewed relationship and closeness with Him.

God who comforts the hurting and weak and will never snuff out a smoldering wick or break a bruised reed.

Additional scripture references: Isaiah 42:1-3, 2 Corinthians 7:6, Psalm 25, Romans 12:13,15

<itunes:summary>The mother's infulence in teaching the "ABC's" of Christianity to her children is unequalled in charting a successful Christian life. Simply put, there is no higher caling than leading a child to Jesus. A godly mother requires three basic tenants:

A Life that is inspirational for spiritual development. This begins from the moment a child is born. Inspirational spiritual living and teaching a child goldiness, does not require a high level of education, a degree in child psychology, nor any special skills -- only a close walk with God and sincere faith. Introducing children to Jesus Christ first and foremost ahead of anything else will be the beginning of a valuable Christian heritage.

A life that is an encouragement to her children's Christian service. Leading a life that includes and places a high priority on service to God encourages children to lead a life of service as well. This is an essential foundation in a child's life. Children will find inspiration in this training and example if started early, and they are encouraged along the way.

A life that is a witness to God's grace. Children are natural imitators. Whatever example that is put before them, they will follow. Nothing is more contagious than a mother that seeks to live a life after God's own heart. This provides a living example for a child to follow.

A mothers beautiful life is the greatest sermon a child will ever hear.

In the review of today's Scripture reading, we note what our priorities should be and where our focus needs to be in order to be free from the trap of anxiety. Three questions are asked:

Where do you bank (heavenly treasures or earthly riches)?

Where is your focus?

Who is your boss (to whom do you listen)?

Although God provides and instructs us not to be anxious, believers still experience troubles as a result of being in this world. Freedom from anxiety is not a guarantee of freedom from troubles; however, He promises to never leave us nor forsake us.

When we are in concert with the Lord, there is an enthusiasm in our lives, a spring in our step no matter what the circumstance; however, sin breaks this cycle. If we habitually sin and stay in that sin, doing nothing to bring ourselves into a right relationship with God, the resulting quality of life will be miserable. The good news is that the moment we confess our sin, this relationship is instantly restored. The Lord is faithful to forgive our sins and remember them no more.

Our sorrow and concern for our situations and circumstances must be channeled into prayer for help, strength and deliverance. Prayer is not an act to get God to agree with us and with what we want. It is a process to get us to comply with what God wants for our lives. Let us follow Nehemiah's example and take our sadness, sorrow, fear and concern to the Lord and go to Him in prayer. He will answer in mighty ways.

God sent us a Savior who is Christ the Lord. We cannot receive Jesus as Savior and not as Lord. If He cannot come to us as Lord of all, then He is not Lord at all. We simply need to come to Him without any reservations.

The disciples called Him "Lord," and He commended them. Many profess godliness with their mouths but deny Him in their hearts. There are no individuals or rebels in heaven. The Lord asks today, "Why do YOU call me Lord?" The thief on the cross almost missed his last opportunity; however, he said "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom". The man was sincere and recognized Jesus' Lordship. Paul on the Road to Damascus said, "Lord, what would you have me to do?"

He is Lord; before His birth, after His birth, during His time on earth and after His ressurection. He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. There is no new life without the Him. Bow the knee and recognize Him as Lord and Savior today.

Paul spoke to the believers in Corinth by telling them "such were you" (i.e. idolaters, adjulterers, etc.). There should be a stopping point and a new paragraph. True conversion means change. A true Christian is not perfect, but a true Christian is not an idolater, adjulterer, thief, a drunkard or any other thing listed in scripture. A true Christian is not what he was before. If you are a true Christian:

We are alarmed by the corruption, the violence and the abuse -- and we are alarmed by the spiritual decay of a nation that was once founded on God. As a nation, we seem determined to leave the God who has so richly blessed us. We have turned our back on Him, His Word and His principles. As gloomy as the outlook may seem, however, we look to Scripture and read God's call to return to Him. The only solution for restoration is to come back to God. We as a nation must return to God, and that return starts one life at a time.

<itunes:summary>There is not a more tragic word in our language than "almost", and there is not a more tragic story than that of an "almost" Christian. King Agrippa's story in Acts 25-26 is examined. He who Paul witnessed to was almost persuaded but entirely lost. May those who don't know Christ today go from "almost" persuaded to "altogether" persuaded and enjoy the security of eternal life.

He wants us to be productive for His kingdom.

Pray

Read, study and memorize God's Word

Serve the Lord

Accept adversity and affliction without complaining

Give our time and money to the Lord

Witness and testify to others

Live a life of separation from the world

He wants us to be prosperous for His kingdom.

<itunes:summary>A look into the story of Jesus' raising Lazarus from the dead. Jesus waited until after Lazarus had already died to arrive on the scene, but He had a plan for this delay. Three key parts of the miracle are examined:

Waiting on the Lord - we must wait on the Lord because He can be counted on. We need an unshakable confidence in the stability of Christ.

The glory of God - the delay is used to show the glory of God.

Jesus wept - He weeps still today at lives that are far from Him. He weeps for the lost and the condition of unrepentant hearts.
